Up meets Titanic in this tragilicious animation!

This seemed kind of spotty to me. The drawings and animation sometimes felt great and sometimes felt too simple, with details frequently feeling as if they'd been left out. The framerate seemed to fluctuate a little too much for my liking too, and the music was both too fast and redundant. That said, I did like it and it was enjoyable to watch. A refreshing getaway from the bad comedies and speedpaintings clogging up the portal.

TheSilleGuy responds:

Yes, the consistency of the animation kind of suffered because of the small amount of time I had. I could only focus hardcore on some sequences while I had to simplify other ones. I had 3½ weeks, where I spent just the first week doing the animatic and the other two on the actual animation. I will learn until next time to NOT do anything longer than 1½ minutes or so. Anyway, thanks for the critique! :)

I can't help being a little bitter that this displaced my spot on the daily awards, but that's not why I disliked this animation.

The whole thing just feels too bland. The entire scenario unfolded so slowly I didn't get what the point of the animation was. The lack of background music and ambiance made the animation feel as if it was dragging on too long. The copy-pasted backgrounds were substandard even when compared with basic backgrounds. The lispy voice acting was a huge turnoff, and the animation as a whole felt like a very slow sitcom.

The one plus I'll give you is that the lip syncing is borderline immaculate.

BehindtheCouch responds:

Hey... You're the first person to tell me that the plot was weak. That's your opinion and I respect it. Most people have been telling me the animation itself isn't great but the plot was good. I'm only getting better from here that goes with animation and writing. I'm glad you at least liked some things about it. I've been working on this for quite a while, and some things won't change no matter how hard I try so I'm sorry my lisp turns you off.

Aside from some mediocre voice acting and the obvious bevel filter, this was really well-done, and I especially liked the outside landscape and how complete it looked. The keyhole part was fucking tense as shit - I was expecting a scare. I found it really funny that the guy didn't do anything stupid, contrary to virtually every horror movie ever, but at the same time the unsatisfying nature of it was also refreshing.

I also think it's kind of odd that the lady told him not to go into that room when nobody ever disturbs another room in a hotel or as a guest in someone else's house. Most likely the guy would have left that room be even if nothing had been said about it. Even then, there's no reason the lady couldn't have told the full story from the beginning. Oh well.

This is actually really good, especially for a newbie. It would have been nice to get some sound effects, color, and backgrounds going, but the most important part of animation is smoothness and you captured that pretty well (particle effects could use some work.)

Midway through watching this I realized it would be really cool if this animation were one continuous slow pan across a landscape showing all of these animations next to each other, like the faces being foreground, a guy sawing wood in the background, maybe even have the swinging arm positioned so it looks as if it's dribbling the ball. Linking everything together would have made this look really, REALLY nice.

Thanks Kwing :-).

And thanks for the feedback. I may have to try that next time, when I get the time to do more of these.

Reminds me a lot of the first one. Pretty good and surprisingly long. It felt like this might have been a little too long, or perhaps too slow - not that it was uninteresting, but that some parts felt unnecessary. I like the low-key almost Napoleon Dynamite-esque thing you've got going on here but without much background music or ambiance it does feel a little bit dull.

Actually quite funny. As someone who was using Flash 8 until just a little while ago, I found it hilarious that in 2015 someone made a (Flash) animation about Flash 9. It's pretty simple, the drawings and animation both being quite basic, but your voice acting is quite good and the twist at the end was funny and silly.

Holy shit, you actually know what you're doing! Not a lot of animators put this kind of quality up anymore. A select few movements (climbing over the ledge) felt a bit rushed but overall you have a great sense of timing and the movements are really smooth. A bit of practice and you could probably put up a good fight against Jomm or Oxob.

9Sticks responds:

Appreciate your kind words! Yes we rushed this one a little but we'll try not to do that often. Thanks a lot!

It's really just a one second loop of existing content. What do you expect? These loops would be fine in a game, but there's just not enough content here. The trees should illuminate a bit more with the shot. Some screen shaking might be nice too, to give the shot a bit of impact.

StandingTough responds:

Thank you for the comment, yeah I get what you mean, I didn't know I could post .gif files in art, so I probably should have posted this there, since this is pretty bare. I really like your idea of the screen shaking for impact, and I'm defiantly going to use that because it sounds sweet and easy to do. I'm not a real gun nut so I don't really understand how much a gun should flash, but I feel like thats just something I'll eventually get better at.
