WHAT?

This is almost a complete copy of the first one! You added nothing except music, which sucked (players can find their own music, at least make a mute button using on(release){;stopAllSound();} on a button!)

The buttons were fixed, but you seemed to have changed nothing. If you want, use the edit button above the Author Comments section if you wish to update a game.

I don't mean to cut my review short, but I've already reviewed the other one. Check out that one for additional details that are true for both of the game versions.

Yoshiboshi3 responds:

Why dont you like the music? Its Pwnage.

Horrible!

This is just horrible!

The graphics are bad; you just imported pictures! If you're going to do that, at LEAST trace it (Modify>Bitmap>Trace Bitmap)

The gameplay was awful. It took me a while to figure out that you had to use the arrow keys, and those were pretty pointless, as you just touched something. The baseball bats were avoidable because you could move off of the screen. (Add if(this._x<0){;this._x=0;}; and similar)

The style was bad. You could have done a lot to improve the presentation. The graphics that were hand-drawn sucked. (If you're using Flash 8 or higher, you can select any typed text and go to Properties>Filters>Bevel, Glow, Drop Shadow, etc.) Putting in Moovlin was a huge mistake. That offended me that you would put such a highly hailed pioneer of PSP Flash Gaming into such a primitive, non-PSP-compatible game. You could have waited until you were a better artist to acknowledge him.

Violence was practically nonexistant, even if it was supposed to be.

The only humor was how bad it was. I don't want to offend you, but it seemed almost as if you were trying to make it bad.

Additionally, the action was horrible. The shooting sequences should have included moving targets, etc. (Use button script for Movie Clips containing animations in them, at LEAST.)

Overall, very poor. The background, players, layout, style, graphics, and everything else were pretty bad.

If you seriously want to improve with Flash, you may PM me and I will send you several links to good ActionScript sources and explain what I can for you. (But please try not to persistently nag me about things.)

Hope I helped.

Thank you for a constructive review! Check out my updated version.

Hi Lino!

Pretty fun, but pretty hard (and hard-stupid, not hard-fun) at times. I couldn't get past the bull-riding picture. By the way, how do you disable [TAB]? I have to resort to it just starting over when I script games where [TAB] is a glitch.

Lino responds:

_root._focusrect = false;

Just put that code on the first frame.

Wicked

Scary, yet not cheesy: A nearly impossible feat (though the messages were a tad cheesy). When the ghost popped out of the dresser I got tingly, but after enough screamers, it's not too bad. I finished with 278000, and was pretty pissed I couldn't find the last orb or message, or two of the remains. The only other thing that kept me from a perfect score was accidentally taking a picture of nothing.

Psionic3D responds:

Thanks for playing and commenting, much appreciated!!

Nice

I like the Level Editor, color options, backgrounds, sound control, and all that other stuff. The style that made it look as if everything were on one frame was very stylish and original, even if it wasn't intentional, and this is definitely better than your average maze game (and despite what some people might say, this has pretty good graphics, too, such as the double-helix. To disable right-click and click-hold, just put in this on a Movie Clip visible on all of the levels (except for the last one for this maze):

onClipEvent(enterFrame){
if(Key.isDown(2)){
gotoAndStop("losing frame");
}
if(Key.isDown(1)){
gotoAndStop("losing frame");
}
}

Though you'll have to play around a little with the options, or clicking Menu, music, or color control will make you lose as well. Also, there's some script that will disable the right-click menu as well, but I can't remember it well.

Conclusion: I really liked this, so keep up the good work! The only maze I cheated on was the moving slowly one, which I couldn't understand, and a few others that I got no benefit out of completing honestly (as they were either time consuming but not hard, or otherwise non-enjoyable). Although I suppose anti-cheat isn't a problem when you have Level Selection. Good day, Newgrounder!

Multihunter responds:

I don't really want to stop people cheating, I don't care if they do and if it's fun, then I say do it.

Thanks for the positive review!

Good but Obsolete

The scripting here is great. However, there are a couple issues. I appreciate the key, doors, and attack feature, but everything else is already on Newgrounds. Since I already had script for everything else, I jumped ahead to enemies. I was expecting to get an enemy that would follow you around and extra 'specially, one that would jump after you. This tutorial disappointed me, not because it was bad, but because I expected it to have some things that it didn't have. Very misleading, but good job!

chunkycheese12 responds:

Yeah, I thought it might. I made the code as I went along, it's very basic so it probably has been done before. I'm glad with the detail though, so people can understand the code and use it to create different games.

Simple but Fun

There isn't too much to say about it. The script is simple, but effective. The concept is simple... but effective. It works well, but is very simple.

EggysGames responds:

Yeah not bad for one of my first games :P

Good

It's just like a copycat of Tricksy though, except a simpler version... All you do is run around and dodge stuff! It's a little boring.

EggysGames responds:

Yeah pretty much :P I liked the art though and the black hole lol

Cool

It doesn't go that extra mile, but I suppose it doesn't really need to. I had been thinking about the == function, and how sometimes you needed to put in ++ or --, and you've confirmed my speculations. Thank you for that, and also, the menu hide was pretty cool. I had already gotten some script for it, but you had different script, which was kind of cool.

Unquestionably worthy of the portal.

Staticblaze responds:

oh thanks. I tried making a newer version with a custom menu script but I never finnished it. Maybe soon, eh?
