Very close. If I were to go by the numbers I'd hand it to Jakobe - he was consistently good throughout both verses. Teqneek was more of a wild card, he was totally on fire on his first verse but dropped the ball on the second.

After a few listens I'm going to have to give this to Jakobe. I really, really liked Teqneek's first verse but Jakobe actually did a great job flipping it. Jakobe's disadvantage is that even though I prefer his flow and mic presence, he's a little slower and ultimately it interferes with his ability to land quite as many punches as Teqneek does.

Also, Teqneek's line about being a veteran was underhanded as hell. Some might disagree, but I think saying something deceptive to bait a flip and then retort with another flip is really weak.

Teqneek responds:

Like 11 years later I'm reading this and WHAAAAT? That deceptive bait line was fucking awesome and like one of my favorite shits I ever did lol. OK love y'all

I happen to like both of the MCs here, but they both made a lot of improvement if the 2011 competition is anything to go by. Very few personals here but I do like how they flow. Steve's second verse was a tad forced but he also had some really clever rhymes. Steve is the better rapper but I think they're tied for this battle.

Uh... Did Eye-Cue say something about Alphabet Soup? Was that supposed to be a Scuare reference or did he say that completely on accident?

Jakobe's pedophile line in his second verse was so good I had to relisten to the track just to catch the rest of the bars.

Overall a pretty strong battle. Eye-Cue had some decent flips in his second verse but Jakobe flipped him HARD. Jakobe to advance.

I'm genuinely surprised - your second verse was solid as hell, much better than your battle with MadFlex. Vox definitely came hard, a big improvement over last year, but overall I'm impressed that after your (admittedly lame) first verse it was a slugfest. Really would have liked to see this battle finished.

Not one of my favorite battles. Neither Cynic nor Self came as hard as they could have, and it doesn't have anything to do with the beat. The name disses were rampant and lines such as "I'm immune to puny goons, I'll move the moon and prove to you" are examples of just how much filler there is in this battle. I do like that Cynic used the slow beat to sound condescending with "You should really practice rapping on beat". The personals I did hear were relevant but not biting. Steve came really hard with "You write articles about yourself on rap sites" - no punches in this battle even came close to that.

Overall I think Self won this one, but neither were at their best. I don't think the tempo has much to do with it; there's always a way to change up your style.

Q-Sik, you can stop name dropping now. Waka Flocka, Eminem, Papa Doc, Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Ludacris, then Broken Needles, MickeyMao and Nimbus. Instead of just listing names you could actually try, you know, attacking? Also I'm impressed that you stayed on beat with "you belong in Alice's wonderland" but you delivered that line FASTER, not SLOWER. Not a good finisher.

Glitch came with a lot of filler but has really nice flow (black and blue your lips/move on to the fist). A few nice flips in the first verse (Eminem/many men, south n***as lip-locked). Second flow was the same - not many personals but sick flow and a lot more power than Q-Sik could bring in either verse.

Oh, and this beat is fucking amazing. I've been looking for the instrumental and can't find it. I'm assuming Q-Sik picked it out? Props, you picked a good one.

Dark and brooding, I like it. Could stand to have a little more variety.

Gasmasq has some clever lines but amazingly Wyze takes it for content. Seems like he could barely fit all of his personals into his first verse, then Gasmasq doesn't really flip any of it.

Gets a little confusing having four MCs on the beat at once. Lots of filler but still saw some clever lines and a few good personals. Honestly I don't think 3v1 is a disadvantage to Gasmasq since he still has (about) as many bars and all he has to do is take his opponents on one at a time.

Once upon a time, water taught itself how to feel pain.
