Fuck, I can't believe it's been so long since I last heard this. Very intense song, fast-paced with a good balance between organic and synthetic sounds. Can't tell how much of me liking this is the track and how much is nostalgia but this is fuckin' great.

Oh shit, you both went nuts.

Eq - Last year's default is okay, "Based around what mine is" is decent, rhyming 'eleven' and 'heaven' is a little played out though. Ben Stein comparison is nice. Pretty strong verse.

Jakobe - Voice diss is great, Eye-Cue reference is very heavy. Equinox diss is another good one. Prison bars thing is pretty generic.

Eq - Rolled my eyes at stanza/Danza/Atlanta, equinox and boring flips are good. Shit on finisher is kind of silly.

Jakobe - Re-flipping equinox is okay but lacks finesse. Don't have a job is good. Doubletime is nice but a lot of the disses just don't hit.

First time I thought Eq had this easy, the more I listen to it the more close I realize it is. The first verses from both were the strongest lyrically, while Jakobe's flow was a little off for his first verse but much stronger during his second. Eq had longer multis, Jakobe rode his schemes longer. I'd give this to Eq by a nose for a stronger second verse and more consistent flow.

Original and very distinct from the other hype tracks. You do an AMAZING Butthead impression. The beat was somewhat overbearing but I could potentially see that as being your way of covering up any flaws in case your impersonation wasn't perfect. Either way, nice beat, funny track. The rhymes are simple, but I don't think anything more complex would have been in-character.

Poniiboi responds:

man you went waaaaaaaaaay back in time.

Very dark and intense. I like this a lot. Has the right feel for a big, slow boss.

Burn7 responds:

Yes!!! I'm glad you think it fits for a boss song, I kind of actually HATE the bassline's sound because I couldn't make it sound the way I wanted to :(

But anyway, I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for checking me out!

Holy shit, I had no idea you had tracks like this. Very strong Jedi Mind Tricks influence here, but the style is still highly distinguished. This is some real poetry man. The flow and rhymes are both real tight, although at some points the flow felt SLIGHTLY redundant - some triplets or maybe something as simple as singing in the hook might have given the track some more variety.

Best shit I've ever heard from you.

Teqneek responds:

Thanks Kwing. Hope all is well with you.

Excellent podcast, I feel like you two had a great balance between information and entertainment and it was just overall awesome to listen to.

ZJ responds:

Thank you! I really appreciate that. I aimed for something like that to happen.

Your tracks are really getting better! Lots of energy in this one, quite catchy too. This kind of straddles the line between an opening theme and a credit roll. Heck, maybe it would be best to clip samples from this to make individual themes for a game, since this is so dynamic, but for a standalone track this is great as it is.

ShinsukeIto responds:

Thanks Kwing!

I actually came up with this song while trying to write an opening theme, believe it or not!
I'm glad you liked it, it was fun making it as well :)

Awesome beat. The wind is really lighthearted and mellow, the percussion is beastly but for some reason the two mix together perfectly. This is really smooth. You're taking gigantic steps in improving your style, and you weren't a bad musician to begin with, either!

bryce responds:

thanks man i appreciate it. i haven't been posting much stuff here - a lot of my beats are on soundcloud and i put up a little album/beat-tape here: archive.org/details/diversions/v2

Great track. You both did a good job but I agree with the other comment about the mixing, it sounds like there's some echoing interfering with the sound which presented a serious issue with Fats' doubletime being coherent. You both came with some solid, heartfelt bars. Teqneek murdered it with multis in his second verse.

The one thing that nagged at me moreso than the mixing was that you both seemed a little aggressive even though you were delivering gentle bars on a gentle beat. Both of you sounded like you could have been scowling and flexing your biceps while you were recording, which was a little disappointing because you both had great bars.

Damn, this has so much variety for a beat. Very dynamic and doesn't stay in the same place for long. Now that I've actually started spitting I'm really glad you finally put out something longer. This is really awesome.
