I really like the color palate here, as well as the super smooth popping motion he does as he comes back (looks better than the melting part, honestly.) Only thing I might change is the melting being completely symmetrical - I think it would have looked a bit better if it were messy.

gatekid3 responds:

the melting isn't completely symmetrical. maybe its not asymmetrical to notice, but its not symmetrical.

Something kind of puts me off about this image. Maybe it's how alike the raindrops look, maybe it's the weird layering of darkness around the model, maybe it's the weird single-shade hill she's standing on, but this just looks wrong. The smudgy effects make it look pretty but there isn't enough detail.

The amount of detail in this is absurd. From a distance it looks photorealistic, and she's pretty cute on top of that. Bottom lip looks a tad big and the eyebrows are a tiny bit too heavy but this is crazy talent.

Outstanding work. The bottom two have such perfect lighting that I thought they were 3D models at first. Really liking the natural brushstroke style of the top two, though. Proportions, lighting - everything looks exquisite.

This looks amazing. The high contrast trick is really great for bringing foreground elements into focus (necromancer, crystals) and dimming out everything else - really loving how the skeletons are just silhouettes. The necromancer himself is vibrant and detailed, though as has already been pointed out the right arm is too long. I also wonder what would have happened with a bit more contrast - I notice the darkest shade of gray you use is still rather pale.

Very nice linework here. The lighting is done very well, especially around the cheekbone. The nostril, lips, and SCM muscle are all too close to the midline and should be farther out to the side. Other than that looking good.

Looks pretty good. I assume the lack of texturing is intentional here? Given that so little is going on with the surfaces themselves I think higher contrast would have made every object more distinct. Aside from that my only gripe is that the Guy Fawkes mask looks kind of inaccurate and for a second I thought it was actually supposed to be a comedy/tragedy mask.

This looks really nice. The texture feels very realistic, too. Only a few caveats - the ceiling and walls both look really plain, and I would expect the stool to be blurred a bit of it's being swung downward.

Very cute. I didn't want to review all of your work but this piece is particularly compelling. In its uncolored state it's a little hard to distinguish what exactly is going on with the gag, but otherwise this is pretty clear. The hairclips look a little unnatural to me, and her left shoulder is raised up a bit too much (either that or it's too large.) Also her hips, while completely fine for someone a bit older, seem a little wide given the age implied by her face.

Aside from these (tiny) nitpicks this looks damn good. I would love to see more shading similar to the neck, as I'm a huge sucker for dramatic lighting, and this could of course be colored, but as a work in progress this looks outstanding.

Boxtie responds:

This isn't really a "work in progress" or anything. I just drew this at random to show the creator. I was told this is their first fan art.

Not sure what to say other than that this looks outstanding. The style looks really rough and yet the detail is immensely precise.

Once upon a time, water taught itself how to feel pain.
