This is a really cool concept, I'd like to see the folding/unfolding of this character animated! Certain parts of the body lack a bit of detail, and the wheel itself really just looks like three concentric circles.

Zechetto responds:

yeah, the left/closed version is without perspective or depth. It's purposely made that way for study reasons, that's how I get to the right version one. I don't really wanted to make a detailed concept. Just a study, but I like it very much how it gets to the spirit of the character and I do love the painting.

By the way, this is one of my first paintings with a brush I made from scratch, and is much better developed now

Really bright and vibrant, I really like the colors! The mushroom at the bottom looks a little rushed and the shape/texture of the tree branches at the top look weirdly bulbous, with strange lighting.

citrusmillie responds:

thank you for your comments and feedback!! I've been trying to find places to get more of that, haha. Appreciate it lots

I really like the color palate here, as well as the super smooth popping motion he does as he comes back (looks better than the melting part, honestly.) Only thing I might change is the melting being completely symmetrical - I think it would have looked a bit better if it were messy.

gatekid3 responds:

the melting isn't completely symmetrical. maybe its not asymmetrical to notice, but its not symmetrical.

Very cute. I didn't want to review all of your work but this piece is particularly compelling. In its uncolored state it's a little hard to distinguish what exactly is going on with the gag, but otherwise this is pretty clear. The hairclips look a little unnatural to me, and her left shoulder is raised up a bit too much (either that or it's too large.) Also her hips, while completely fine for someone a bit older, seem a little wide given the age implied by her face.

Aside from these (tiny) nitpicks this looks damn good. I would love to see more shading similar to the neck, as I'm a huge sucker for dramatic lighting, and this could of course be colored, but as a work in progress this looks outstanding.

Boxtie responds:

This isn't really a "work in progress" or anything. I just drew this at random to show the creator. I was told this is their first fan art.

Excellent. I love Worms and you really captured the essence of its cartoony style with this. If you told me you were part of Team 17 I probably would have believed you.

Only thing I might change would be the outlines - they're a constant thickness, but it would be neat if it were a little thicker around larger features while remaining thin for things like the area around the lips.

DoodlingHitman responds:

Thank you very much!

Yeah I mostly only use size 10 for the lines. I do however have that thing enabled so that if you press harder with the pencil the lines will be thicker.

Very cute. I've never understood the whole overlay thing that you can see near the bottom right of the image, but the linework and coloration is really top-notch. The face and hair really turned out perfectly.

The cloth looks a little odd near the shaded bit at the bottom, which kind of threw me off - the shaded area is too stark a contrast in my opinion, and it doesn't really make sense how that one particular area is more shaded. Moving up the picture, you can see the hand that is reaching out has something strange going on around the wrist - the crease of her thumb protrudes too far into her palm. Finally, the model's right shoulder and neck are somewhat off. The neck looks as if it's way too far to the left, while the longer right shoulder is left with a strange meaty section that creates a strange indentation at the deltoid.

AnimeTeam responds:

Wow... I am SO GLAD that you have taken the time to make an in-depth review. I REALLY APPRECIATE the honesty, and the tips that I KNOW will help me improve.

Take a look at my Bongcheon-Dong ghost painting, as an example. People were so harsh on me, when I uploaded my first rough sketch of her, and DID my VERY BEST to make it look as identical as possible, and I did because of the critics.

Again; thank you, so much! :)

Interesting, the color scheme is really eye candy here. Lighting is amazing, although in this context the white streaks across the pink metal are a little generic; you might be able to reflect some of the sky in those gleams very gently. That said, it's way cool that the birds cast a shadow on the mech. The pose, details, etc. are really nice as well. The only problems I see are the proportions of the mech. Its torso is a little too thin, and the legs seem a bit off (though this may only be due to the torso in proportion to it). The arms also seem to have a lot more detail than the legs, which is weird. Love the grass and clouds though.

ShinsukeIto responds:

Thanks a lot for the review, Kwing!
Ahh, thanks for pointing out the flaws as well, the constructive criticism is always helpful.
I also rushed a bit toward the end (something I tend to do a lot x__x), so that's why the legs don't have much detail.

Thanks again!

Interesting abstract. The color scheme is very interesting and the face is well done. I feel kind of like an ass but this is a little too... Abstract. There's detail surrounding the face in the center, not so much on the side. What bothers me more is that there just doesn't seem to be a clear pattern here and as a result this looks more unfinished than anything.

Galneda responds:

Don't feel like an ass, those are valid observations! I agree with that, and if I were to ever do something like this again, a kind of an "Argile II" it would definitely have a more deliberate design to it; from "didn't exist" to "saving the final as a .jpeg" was done in under 45 minutes...so there wasn't really a whole lot of planning, just "Oooh do a sketch that looks cross-hatched here, and do a circle bit there, and a line of dots over there"

I tried stuff with black ink, it wasn't working out, so I just loosely shaded the area outside of the "face" dimensions, then toned down the opacity so it wasn't as distracting.

I really appreciate the review! It makes me want to try out an Argile II and patiently spend more time on it.

Holy shit. What a painting. I really love the color scheme here, the sunset makes for such an interesting piece. The landscape is absolutely breathtaking and it's really captivating seeing the two people in the boat. A few things look a little odd - a few brushstrokes that look hasty as well as the way the model on the right is holding the oar (?). Otherwise this is damn near perfect.

Kamikaye responds:

Thanks a lot :) REally appreaciate your feedback ! Indeed I tend to rush brushstrokes when I lose my patience, thats tricky to correct later as I usually work on few layers.

Really good, I've looked back and forth between the logo and this set and the similarity is immediately recognizable. What's also cool is that a few intentional differences ultimately make it look better. For instance, the treads are black instead of white, and there are also studs you added to blank looking areas.

The one thing I'd take away is that there are better helmets to put on the minifigures - I'm pretty sure there's a black helmet and a white visor that would look almost identical. There's probably a Star Wars visor that even has the same shape.

Anyway this really looks great and I'd totally buy a set for this. At the very least I really want to see a video of you building this. Or you could record yourself taking it apart and play the video backwards.

Laureallis responds:

Thanks a bunch! Maybe during spring break next week I'll have to record me building. Also I wanted to use white Star Wars rebel Hoth goggles but I don't have any sadly.
